2500 Pearl Street

Boulder, Colorado

This 21,000sf mixed use building was conceived as an urban object and anchor on a key gateway intersection into downtown Boulder. The site is a transition between the urban and suburban and the texture and density of the adjacent environment changes at this intersection. The building needed to straddle both scales.

The design was conceived as two building elements. A one story load bearing concrete masonry structure with punched openings. This is overlaid by a simple steel frame structure wrapped with a lightweight skin with graphic pattern of strip openings. The overall building composition is a three dimensional billboard for the retail tenant/owner.
